In recent years, the lack of trademark enforcement has enabled for-profit businesses, including some located outside of the United States, to profit from the use of ΢ÃÜÆÆ½â’s name and marks without being subject to any quality, ethical sourcing, or labor standards. ΢ÃÜÆÆ½â’s partnership with Nexus Licensing Group assists the College with:
- Protection against any misuse of ΢ÃÜÆÆ½â trademarks.
- Quality control over products and design.
- Assurance that items bearing the ΢ÃÜÆÆ½â trademarks are produced ethically (e.g. licensees affiliated with the Fair Labor Association) .
No, items for internal use are royalty-exempt. We strongly recommend that you review future vendor contracts carefully to make sure that you are not inadvertently paying royalties for goods that are for internal use and not being resold and clearly marked NOT FOR RESALE. The College’s agreement with Nexus Licensing Group includes a crafter’s license for individuals producing handcrafted items for resale that include the ΢ÃÜÆÆ½â trademarks. This program is designed to provide an affordable option for artists, crafters, and artisans selling in-person or online through direct-to-consumer platforms. This license includes a flat fee and is renewed annually (July 1-June 30). Products and designs are subject to approval and must abide by the College’s brand guidelines. Response time will depend on the punctuality with which the required items (license registration form, certificate of insurance, marketing and distribution plan, applicable advances and minimum guarantees) are provided to Nexus Licensing Group. Vendors may be required to provide proof of affiliation with the or other proof of ethical sourcing and production. Please allow three to five business days for first-time licensees.
